Prayer Letter
Autumn 2018


"Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for
you in Christ Jesus"

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Prayer Points:


As we look back on our 125th Anniversary service and parade, we thank God for a great day of celebration together. We praise Him for how he is used the CLCGB for the the last 125 years in the
Church of Ireland. We thank Him for all of the children and young people whom he has brought to him and who have been discipled through the organisation.


As we look forward from this anniversary, please join with us in praying that God would continue to use our organisation for His glory and that we could continue to be His vessel for reaching children and young people. Please also pray that we would be aware of God's leading as he guides us in His plans for the future of the organisation.


This term, many of our groups are working through the Miniature Heroes and Marvellous Armour of God Scripture Courses, please pray for our leaders as they teach the children. We pray that the children's  ears would truly be open to listen and that that seeds of faith would be sown and nurtured.


We thank God for the growth we have seen in several companies this year, we pray that new members would settle in quickly and have a real sense of belonging. We pray for leaders as they get to know new members, understand additional needs and consider how best to minister to them.


We pray for those groups who will be going to the Ice Hockey match in November, we pray that this would be a great time of fellowships where new friendships within and between companies would be formed. We pray that more than ever our companies would have a sense of being part of a bigger family and the body of Christ.


Please join with us in thanking God for his provision for us in the form of a grant from the Solomon Foundation towards our development work for the coming year. I am particularly grateful for this as it will allow  me to continue in my role working with you and your companies.


Please remember Darryl Hewitt, one of the Brigade's Deputy Governors, in your prayers as he is currently unwell.

 
Please also pray for our Governor, Liz Butterfield, who is going through health problems.

Prayer Letter February 2018

"How great is the love that the Father has lavished upon us, that we should be called children of God. And that is what we are." 1 John 3:1

Prayer Points:

  • We are very excited to be opening a new company on the Shankill Road in St Micheal's Parish this month. We are already aware that many of the children who will be attending are coming from difficult backgrounds, please pray that we would be able show them just how much Jesus loves them and that the love they receive through this group would have a lasting impact on their lives and sense of identity.
  • We were delighted to hear the news that the Rev Paul Dundas, chaplain of Christ Church company has been appointed as Archdeacon of Dalriada. We pray that Paul would be blessed in this role and would also bring God's blessing to those he works with.
  • Please remember Lyn Spence from St Hilda's company in your prayers. Lyn recently lost her brother Jim who had been a member of the Brigade from a young age and a leader for a few years. We pray that the family would know peace and comfort at this time.
  • Please join with us in praying for Jean Seffen, Captain of Magherafelt company who has been unwell recently. We pray that she would be brought back to full health and strength soon.
  • We pray for all of our JTC members who recieved AQE results recently, we pray that God would guide them in their decisions about schools and that they would be placed in the schools which will best suit them.
  • Please pray for me as I continue to travel around the country giving school assemblies and visiting groups, that God would use me and speak through me.

Prayer Letter March 2018

"Many are saying of me, “God will not deliver him.” But you, LORD, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high. I call out to the LORD, and he answers me from his holy mountain. I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the LORD sustains me" Psalm 3:2-5

Prayer Points:

  • As we head towards "display season" please prayer for our companies as they prepare items. We pray that the children would enjoy showing off what they have learnt this year and would have confidence as they demonstrate this for their families and friends.
  • We are delighted to have opened St Micheal's Company, Shankill road with 16 children, please join us in thanking God for these children coming into church and hearing about Him. Please pray for more leaders to come forward and for wisdom for our existing leaders as we strive to deal with various behavioural issues in a way that shows Jesus love but also ensures the safety and enjoyment of all of the children.
  • As we plan our 1st and 3rd Battalion young leaders outing and certificate celebration for the end of this month we are thanking God again for these fantastic young leaders coming up through the organisation with a heart to lead the younger sections. We pray that this event would serve to spur them on and encourage them further in their roles in their companies.
  • This month the training team are carrying out two evenings of young leaders training with Fivemiletown Company and their JTC/Senior Section. Please pray that this would inspire some of the boys to begin to serve in their company and that this training would affirm them and help them to grow in confidence. We are thankful for how these boys have grown in their faith this year already through their bible studies and for the leaders who are discipling them each week and pray that they would continue to be enthusiastic about God's word.
  • Most importantly please continue to pray that Jesus’ name would be glorified through the work of the CLCGB and that through our organisation, children and young people would come to know him for the first time.

Prayer Letter January 2018

A very Happy New Year to all of our prayer supporters! This is our prayer for you for 2018;

"I pray that out of the riches of His glory, He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to comprehend the length and width and height and depth of His love, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God." Ephesians 3:16-19

Prayer Points:

  • As we embark on a New Year we take time to thank God for all he has done in the CLCGB in 2017 and for how he has been with us and guided us. We pray that 2018 would be a year that would see many children going deeper in their relationship with God and many coming to know him for the first time. We pray that we would remember to always keep Jesus in the centre of our plans and that he would not let us run ahead of Him but would go before us.
  • As our Young Leaders from the 1st and 3rd battalion area complete their training course this month with a social outing please join with us in thanking God for these young people coming up through the organisation with a desire to serve him. We pray that they would continue to grow in their relationship with him and that he would continue to equip them for their company roles.
  • As our Regimental Staff and Battalion Staff meet in various areas this month we pray for wisdom in their decisions and guidance for their plans.
  • Please pray for Drogheda company who have had a fantastic start to their new company but are at times struggling for enough leaders, we pray that God would bring forward some help for them and that he would encourage and strengthen the existing leaders who are working so hard.
  • Please pray for our Deputy Commanding Officer and First Aid Officer John Williams and his wife Lynn. Lynn has not been well over Christmas and your prayers would be appreciated. Please pray for me as I carry out school assemblies throughout Northern Ireland this month, pray that God would use me and that we would see lots of new members joining our groups as a result of these assemblies.
