Will I have fun?

Will I try new activities and challenges?
Will I be welcome?

Yes, Yes, Yes, absolutely yes and all with those of a similar age in a safe, well-run environment.
All our leaders are vetted, DBS checked, and follow the Anglican church ethos.

So try us out, the journey starts here: Find Your Local Group

“It feels nice to be part of a group who help each other and are friendly. It makes me feel special.”

Maddison, aged 10.

What do the clergy think?

“I have been involved with CLCGB since 1969 and have seen how precious it was and what a difference it made in my Parish, All Saints & Martyrs Langley, which had a huge Company. It brings what young people need to young people, it gives them friendship, it gives them fellowship and fun."

Bishop Jack Nichols

E Bulletin 10 July 2011

font size

Welcome to our fortnightly email digest of news, events and website updates from CLCGB NHQ.  This is our last fortnightly e-bulletin, as this bulletin is to be re-branded the CLCGB National e-news to contain a lot more information, news etc from the Brigade nationally, which will be published on the 1st of each month.

CLCGB approved to deliver training and award recognised qualifications

Exciting news The CLCGB is now recognised as an ABC approved centre and have approval to deliver and certificate in our own rights ;- Level 2 award, and Certificate in youth work practice and Level 3 Award, Certificate and Diploma in youth work Practice.

These awards will be linked with the existing Brigade training but enable young leader, officer and helpers to gain a national recognised qualification.

We will initially be starting training via the online training (Moodle) with the people that signed up for the Progress training, as this is the money that has supported the appointment of the part time progress training officer (Audrey Simm).  If you would like any further details please contact Audrey at audreysimm@clcgb.org.uk

C of E General Synod

Audrey Simm is currently at the Church of England General Synod in York from the 8th to 11th July promoting the great work of the CLCGB with Martin Lambourne assisting as a volunteer.  Many thanks go to Martin for his continued support to the Brigade.

NHQ Update

The residential centre at HQ has now been given a clean bill of health from the recent electrical safety testing, allowing the Seren House project to move forward and now be allowed to accept residents.

During the next few months Audrey will be attempting to allocate some of the first floor rooms at NHQ as sleepover rooms, making use of the surplus bunk beds not used by the Seren House project.  If anyone would be willing to volunteer their services in clearing boxes, cleaning, painting, and general internal building repairs your assistance would be greatly appreciated please contact Audrey on 07950676860.

Holy Trinity Bardsley

Our new company at Holy Trinity, Bardsley has now had three meetings, and we currently have seven Martins and seven Y Team/JTC children attending each week which is very positive.  Well done to all those who helped to setup the company and the leaders that are working with the children.

Spare Band Equipment

We have kindly been offered help to sort out, catalogue, and photograph all the spare band equipment stored at NHQ with the view these will be offered for sale to Brigade companies in order to clear some space in the storage area and raise much needed finances.  If you require any additional band equipment please make contact with Claire or Zoe at HQ.

Bumper Edition of The Brigade

Headquarters are now looking for articles/reports to put into the bumper 120th Celebration The Brigade Magazine.  If you have anything that you can share if you could email Claire/Zoe or Alan in HQ it would be mostly appreciated.

CO's and Treasurers

It is coming up to that time of year again to submit your account returns to NHQ.  Please can you try to ensure that these are returned by the due date shown on the returns, as delays cost the Brigade for extra additional auditing.  If you have any queries please contact Claire in NHQ.

Online Donations - Your Brigade Needs You.

With funds running low we have signed up with Paypal to be able to receive donations online. To help the Brigade, you can now donate online, enabling the Brigade to continue its role within your communities. Whatever the amount you may wish to donate, we will be extremely grateful for any gifts.  Unless donors prefer otherwise, donors' names will appear in a special donations appreciation page on our website. If you pay income tax CLCGB can claim back the tax paid at the basic rate that means CLCGB gets and extra 20p for every £1.00 you give in donations. Click here to donate online.

Online Fundraising - Easysearch.org.uk

Are you one of the 6.4m people that use a search engine every day?  Did you know you can raise money for the CLCGB while you search?

http://clcgb.easysearch.org.uk combines the results of several search engines such as Yahoo!, Bing and Ask to ensure you can always find what you are looking for. But the fantastic thing is that EVERY TIME you search, half a penny is raised for the CLCGB. Search just 15 times a day and you can raise around £25 a year for us.

So the next time you need to find something online, please use http://clcgb.easysearch.org.uk and raise money for the Church Lads And Church Girls Brigade with every search you make.

You could try this for your own formation to earn extra funds.

St Crispin's Band

We have a report of the National Band Competition from St Crispin's.  See the homepage of the website for the full report.

Coming soon to the website

Membership Online

We are looking at the opportunities to build a secure membership database to complement our current website and training website.  This will give us a huge tool to enable companies to update their members records online, and eventually we are hoping that annual returns could even be filed online one day.  This is in the very early stages and more information will be posted on the progress of this development, as we will need volunteers to assist developing and testing the systems.  The Girl Guides, JLGB and Scouts have similar systems which work extremely well and data can be available instantly on a laptop/mobile phone.

Upcoming Events

North East Leaders weekend - Friday 18th - Sunday 20th November 2011 (bring your winter woollies for the bracing weather!!!!). Please encourage as many leaders and junior leaders (aged 16+) to attend the weekend.  This event is also open to any friends you may have from other companies / regiments within the Brigade.

It is not intended for it to be a formal training weekend; the majority of time will be free for you to do what you wish, or do something together as a group.  We will possibly look at having a 2 hour session on a particular training issue, but this will not be the purpose of the weekend.  The aim is for leaders to be able to get away together, get to know each other on an informal basis and generally have a fun weekend.  All meals will be provided from Friday supper until Sunday lunch (we may look at all having a fish and chips meal at sometime over the weekend).  The cost of the weekend will be around £35 - £40 full board.  Contact Philip Geldard on 07887 811676 for further details

North East Camp 2011

North East Camp this year is to be held in the Lakes District over the week 20th August to 27thAugust.  All members of the CLCGB are welcome to attend.  Cost is £135 which includes accommodation, some activities and all meals.  For further details contact Derick Jackson either through the NE Camp Facebook page or email at derick.jackson@gva.co.uk or on 07736 470220.

Chorley Battalion Parade
